"Antique French Empire Mantel Clock Made Of Gilt Bronze/ormolu "hercules""
Mantel clock with the face of Hercules, an ancient hero. The bronze is of exceptionally good quality, the gilding is completely original and in excellent condition. Hercules leans against a tree trunk with his club on the ground. He is dressed in a lion's skin. A lion's head, longbow and twisted snakes can be seen on the base of the mantel clock. The whole stands on four lion paws. Original timepiece with an enamel dial signed "G Ronma & Zonen Liège", black Roman numerals, "Breguet" steel hands, percussion every half hour, 8-day anchor movement with rope pendulum. Key and shuttle included.
An almost identical clock can be seen in French bronze by Elke Niehuser p. 64 and a similar model in gilt bronze by Hans Ottomeyer / Peter Proschel p. 399.
