"Altar Style Reliquary Painting - 18th Century"
An original presentation for this reliquary painting which reproduces an altar. A form in fact rarely used which contributes to the interest of this beautiful work of piety. On its antependium are three niches, the central one of the Sacred Heart and surrounding it on either side so, in two precious paper hearts, are significant ex-ossibus relics of Saint Adelaide and Saint Marguerite. An enhanced engraving of the Virgin and Child in Majesty serves as an altarpiece, which is topped with a Cross.
The whole is decorated with a graceful work of paperolles and pink beads. Gilded and painted wooden frame. This piece would have been acquired during the closure of a Célestins convent in 1921.
