"Life Size Sculpture - Black Woman - Museum Of Peoples' History - 19th Century"
Extremely rare life-size sculpture (165 cm high) of a naked black woman dating from the end of the 19th century. It is probably a sculpture that was in a European museum of ethnography or the history of peoples, a symbol of colonial domination in the 19th century. This sculpture may recall the casting of the Hottentot Venus or also called Steatopyge Venus which was made by Cuvier in 1816 from the inert body of Sarah Baartman.
Height: 165 cm.
