Oil painting on cardboard representing a city view by Rafael DeSoto dating from the 1930s. Very interesting painting first of all due to its subject showing a city scene surely New York with its yellow and black taxi as they were in the 1930s and its characters to umbrellas. Early work signed R Soto lower left for this artist born in 1904 in Puerto Rico who died in New York in 1992, a famous painter and illustrator. Original carved wooden frame dimensions 43.5 by 34.5 cm. Very beautiful painting in the treatment of its very interesting subject and its interest in the painter's work.
