Cabinet With Musical Instruments, End Of 19th Century

Superb marquetry cabinet on its original console.

a very beautiful piece of furniture from the end of the 19th century in perfect condition.

it comes in two parts.

the base forming a console has three drawers on the front. It rests on eight twisted Louis XIII legs ending in ball feet framed by an inlaid belt.
the whole is blackened wood for the solid parts and bone veneer, rosewood, ebony for the marquetry.
this base is stable, robust and in perfect condition.

the cabinet is designed similarly and has carry handles on the sides.
we find blackened wood for the massive parts and marquetry of ebony, rosewood and bone.
it opens on the front with 6 drawers and a central door revealing 4 new drawers.
At the top it has a balustrade decorated with removable bobeches.
the sides are inlaid with geometric patterns framing the wrought iron carrying handles.
each drawer face as well as the door are decorated with scenes in bone engraved with characters with musical instruments: lyres, guitar, lute, oboe etc...
each scene engraved in bone in black on a white background is of great finesse.
Each scene is surrounded by floral motifs and geometric marquetry decorations.

each drawer works perfectly and slides smoothly.

Only the door key has been changed.
very  beautiful finish with slightly satin buffer varnish.
in a perfect state.
