Andalusian work Around 1864-1865. Oil on canvas. This painting represents a curious scene in which a character of the time walks while reading a copy of the satirical newspaper El Tio Clarín. The man who is the protagonist of the painting resembles the typical characters drawn in the caricatures of this Sevillian satirical newspaper, which, as they themselves described, were talkative, intrusive and quarrelsome publications. The canvas presents an old conservation intervention on the reverse.
