"19th Century Painting By Georges Cain (1856-1919) “the Painting Lesson”"
Exceptional and very rare Salon painting by Georges Jules Auguste CAIN (1856-1919) representing a woman painter receiving advice from the master artist in the 18th century. Large original oil on canvas signed lower right with its salon frame original in wood and patinated gilded stucco. Son of the sculptor Auguste Nicolas CAIN, he was raised by VILBERT, Édouard DÉTAILLE and especially Àlexandre CABANEL, participating regularly in the Paris Salon between 1878 and 1900, with an honorable mention in 1889. He became curator of the CARNAVALET museum in PARIS. He has a very meticulous touch like DETAILLED, which allowed him to collaborate on illustrations for major newspapers as well as for great classics such as BALZAC or BEAUMARCHAIS (the barber of Seville).
