HOURLIER, Armand. Set of 11 drawings of interior decoration projects in pencil, watercolor and gouache, some enhanced with gold paint (tears at the edges, not serious, and marginal mold in places; the leaves are rolled) Armand Victor Hourlier (1857 -1935) began his training in the workshop of the architect Ludovic-François Douillard, who presented him to the competition for the School of Fine Arts in Paris from which he graduated in 1887. As a painter-decorator, he created decorative works such as the village hall in Saint-Lô, that of the Industrial Society of Lille, the Notre-Dame church, the Savings Bank and private mansions in Tourcoing, the church of Saint-Amand-les -Waters. As an architect, we owe him mainly special constructions. He was the son-in-law of Dominique-Henri Guifard, painter-decorator who worked for the Duke of Aumale on the design of decorations and paintings for the castle and the Saint-Louis Chapel in Chantilly, and the father of the architect Jean-Baptiste Hourlier. 1.
