Florimond van Acker (1858 - 1940)

Portrait of a young woman in the 1920s. She is holding yellow roses in her hands.
Signed Flori van Acker. Florimond van Acker was a Belgian painter born in Bruges. He studied at the Bruges Academy with Bruno van Hollebeke and Edward Wallaeys, then at the Antwerp Academy with Charles Verlat and from 1879 at the Brussels Academy with Jean-François Portaels and the history painter Joseph Stallaert. He returned to Bruges in 1887 where he became a professor at the local Academy, then he became its director in 1910.
Belgian school from the beginning of the 20th century.
Dated 1920.
