Indestructible 22 Cm Key, Mansion, Louis XIV Period

Superb large key, thick and massive, beautiful forging work, most likely for a strong porte cochère. French work circa 1700, during the reign of Louis XIV.
powerful, the key offers an inverted C ring, joining the base in a double boss, long solid stem, ending in button, rectangular bit with snout and rake of 4 teeth, two spinning wheels, and central perforated hole in the shape of a T.

What's superb about it: we see the work of stretching the metal hand forge, which has an epidermis, like bark of a tree.....
