"Henry Ottmann Mas Provençal"
Provençal farmhouse in a grove of trees, with a few people in front. The watercolor is signed lower left by Henry Ottmann (1877-1927), a painter inspired by Renoir, Cézanne and Monet. The National Museum of Modern Art in Paris and the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes have in their collections beautiful sets by this artist stored in their reserves. Unfortunately one of the constant rules of museum curators is to consider that those who preceded them in their position half a century before were grossly mistaken, unlike them. The watercolor is framed in an oak frame in a mount which dates from the first part of the 20th century. Alone, it measures 17.3x24.3 cm. On the back of the frame, a number 21 in orange chalk must correspond to an exhibition number.
