"Cinnabar Lacquer Necklace And Drop Earrings."
This necklace, accompanied by a pair of matching earrings, is made up of large balls of cinnabar lacquer threaded falling onto a red braided cord. The beads are hand carved from kousa leaf and flowers. The earrings hang at the end of a small gold metal chain, decorated with a leaf and a bunch of grapes. The necklace is equipped with a brass clasp that screws on, the smallest of the pearls measures 1.2 cm and the largest 2.5 cm. Necklace length 49 cm. Height of earrings 6.6 cm, each bead measures 2.3 cm in diameter. Origin China. Late 19th or early 20th century period.
