"Chalice And Its Patene In Gilded Silver, France Circa 1870"
Chalice and its Paten in gilded silver from the end of the 19th century. Silver embossed and chiselled. The foot is circular, with projections, decorated with a Greek cross, water leaves and geometric patterns. The edge is highlighted with a frieze of pearls. The stem has a collar and a flattened ball knot with channels. It has a flared cut and a faux cut decorated with the same ornament as the base. The base is fitted with a gilded bronze disc. Neo-Gothic style. The Patène is decorated with a Greek cross and engraved IHS Hallmarks Minerva 950/1000 The whole is the work of Parisian goldsmiths Jamin & Chevron, active between 1865 and 1879.
