"Pair Of Bronze Ewers With Double Patina"
Pair of bronze ewers with two patinas depicting bacchanalian scenes after Clodion. Circular base with pedestal decorated with a frieze of vine branches. The gilded bronze frame supports the body with large stylized acanthus leaves. The brown patina body is decorated with bas reliefs representing putti. Above, gilded bronze vine branches adorn the upper part of the ewer. The spillway is decorated with vine vines. A winged putto seated in front of a bird straddles each of the guilloché handles, holding bunches of grapes in its hands. Vine leaves wrap around the handle also decorated with grooves, foliage and finished with a ram's head. Bears an inscription on the base as well as a date: May 31, 1883, height: 44cm Provide for cleaning and a handle to be reattached.
