Khandjar Syro Lebanese, Druze 19th Century

This khandjar is a fine example of daggers from the Syria Lebanon area. It dates from the 19th century. It is in good condition, with all of the handle inlays present. For some authors, it would be typical of the Druze populations of the mountains.
 BLADE It has a complex diamond section: On the convex side, the cutting edge begins immediately and continues to the tip. On the concave side, the blade has an unedged part over the first 8 centimeters, decorated with geometric patterns and partially gilded. Then the back becomes sharp and joins the tip.
On each side we find a large engraved fuller whose bottom is cut with an openwork which is probably a representation of the "ewer of purity" which symbolizes the Prophet. The base of the blade is surrounded by a chiseled brass ring.
Length of the blade = 19.7 cm, width at the guard = 2.8 cm, thickness near the guard = 4 mm
GUARD: it is a small guard made of a brass plate.
HILT : It is made of horn with numerous inlays of coral, brass, and bone. A small brass ferrule ensures the junction with the guard. The tang is riveted to the rear portion of the handle.
SCABBARD: it is made of wood covered with red velvet (perhaps a later replacement?), with entry to the scabbard and brass leaf cap. Slight opening of the brass at the level of the button.
