"Small Hand-faced Beveled Mirror In Solid Silver Louis XVI Style Minerva"
Cute little hand-held type mirror, in solid silver. Manufactured in the Art Nouveau period, its floral decoration consists of a garland of laurel leaves around the edge of the mirror, tied with three ribbons and finished with a bouquet of acanthus leaves at the socket. The latter forms a sheathed and flanked pilaster, decorated with two garlands and ends with a ring of ribboned laurel garland. Mirror (probably reported: Glace de France) beveled and protected at the back by a wooden plate lined with fabric. Silver hallmark: Minerva 1st title Paris, on the handle and on the side of the frame. Master goldsmith's mark: A and E with a balance between the two (Antoine Eysen, 1895) In very good condition: I note some scratches and normal wear on the mirror, as well as a few tears in the original fabric. Total weight: approx. 154g (net silver weight: 84.8g).
