Circa 1800-1820 Provence Beautiful Polonaise envelope or hooded cape in cotton printed in Puce color imitating heathers on the branch. It is lined with an astonishing reused 18th century Indigo cambrasine. Printing on cotton using a roller or copper plate. Flea loaded with zebra twigs and small polka dots. Lining in gray plush cotton and Cambrasine Indigo embroidered with floral motifs in polychrome wool. Beautiful work of fine Polonaise pleats around the edge of the cape and the small hood. Note, a twisted iron hook fastener probably from the 18th century as well. No flaws except a period patch at the bottom of the cape behind, really hard to notice. Otherwise very good condition of color and conservation. Perfect for mass or simply for the pleasure of a Provençal Christmas. Collector's item, portable today.
