The diocese of Montpellier divided into nine archpriests, Hubert Jaillot, 53x43cm. Engraving dedicated “Monseigneur Charles Joachim Colbert, bishop of Montpellier (nephew of the great Colbert...) and featuring his arms (a beautiful snake), it is enhanced with period watercolor. Alexis-Hubert Jaillot, (1632 – November 3, 1712) was a French geographical engineer and cartographer, printer in Paris, from the second half of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, in the service of King Louis XIV. I had the chance to discover this map in the region, it exists at the National Library, (last Photo) and various libraries and museums, including Montpellier, but does not appear on the art market or at auctions. due to its limited distribution at the time….
