The work is signed lower left and is presented in a carved wooden frame The dimensions of the canvas alone: 46 x 33 centimeters Frame including dimensions: 65 x 52 centimeters Maurice Alfred Joseph Décamps, born in Paris on October 2, 1892 and died on October 8, 1953 in Ermont (Val-d'Oise) Biography He was the son of Alfred Emile Décamps and Gabrielle Dupetit. Trained at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Amiens, he was a student of Pierre Eugène Montézin. he posed as a master in the “Art of the flower”. Member of the school whose leaders were Achille Cesbron, Fantin-Latour and Georges Jeannin. he sought harmony and power in floral representations rather than grace, finesse and lightness. Stylistically, his still lifes are inspired by the pointillism and luminism of Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissaro and Claude Monet. He began in 1913 at the Salon des artistes français, of which he was a member. He obtained an honorable mention in 1926, then a 2nd medal in 1927. He was also honored with the Prix de la Savoie in 1926, the Prix de la Société des Paysagistes in 1927, the Raigecourt-Goyon prize in 1929 and the Justin Claverie Prize. in 1938.
