Portrait of Saint Peter. 18th century period. Definitely refinished. Key frame. Beautiful representation of St Peter certainly in prayer. The Acts of the Apostles describes him as one of the main leaders of the Christian community, showing himself to be responsible, wise speaker and healer. After Pentecost, it is he who speaks and begins preaching the Christian message. One of the main apostles of Jesus (according to the Gospel) is crucified in Rome, following Nero's persecution of Christians. Christ would have given him his name to symbolize his function as founder of the Church. Roman tradition will make him the first pope. Feb. 6 2019. Thank you for your visit .
