"Jacques Duval Brasseur, Flamingo"
Brass sculpture representing a flamingo, signed Duval Brasseur Good condition, 1970-1980 H: 170 cm Born in 1934 in France, Jacques Duval Brasseur is an artist and sculptor. He broke up with his family at the age of 17 and left for Cherbourg where he enrolled in the Beaux-Arts. It was these courses that confirmed in him an artistic vocation that he had felt since his early childhood. A company entrusts him with a mission, which will lead him to start creating objects, to sculpt using all the materials he can collect from breakers or scrap dealers. Animal representation is omnipresent in the work of Jacques Duval Brasseur. He works the technique instinctively, gropes, seeks to tame the materials and engages with them in a struggle to get the most out of them with the aim of creating original works. He created his first abstract sculptures using various materials such as car sheet metal. It was also at this time that the artist César, an artist whom Jacques Duval Brasseur did not know, also took his fantastic bestiary from scrap metal. This fantastic dimension is common to both artists. Jean Dive, who noticed and appreciated his creations, allowed Jacques Duval Brasseur, in 1969, to present four large abstract sculptures at the Maison et Jardin Gallery. This is when the success of our artist began. Many famous collectors will place orders, for example Shah of Iran who acquired one of his most beautiful pieces or the actor David Niven.
