Delille Paris -Atelier de la Tuilerie Jean Miotte (1926-2016) is a French abstract painter of “Art Informel”. Miotte began her artistic career in the post-Second World War decade, at a time when abstraction was emerging on both sides of the Atlantic. Seeking an “other art”, artists such as Kazuo Shiraga, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Emil Schumacher and Jean Miotte, highlighted artistic freedom as expressed by gestural brushstrokes and large flat areas of color. He associates his painting with “a projection, a succession of acute moments where creation occurs in the midst of spiritual tension and as a result of internal conflicts.” Influenced by choreography, jazz, and particularly ballet. Critics say he is unique among the "Informels" because he continues to grow, fighting against repetition, and questioning his forms of expression. In 2002, the Jean Miotte Foundation opened its doors in New York, presenting a permanent collection of his works.
