Horse bell ringer surrounded by his pack, oil on canvas signed lower right André Marchand and dated 1929.
Very good condition, the painting has just been cleaned and refinished.
Period frame in wood and gilded stucco, small accidents.

André Marchand was 22 years old when he painted this painting. It is a youth work even if he began drawing and painting around the age of 14. A few years later he would become one of the leaders of the new School of Paris.
In hunting with hounds, also called venery, the ringer is one of the huntsmen responsible for sounding the hallali by means of his hunting horn or his hunting horn, that is to say the signal that the animal has been killed, usually by the stinger.
