Wood, pigments and plant fibres 
H. 36; L 35 cm

Boomerang composed of two wooden blades carved with rounded ends, pierced in the centre and assembled in an X shape using strips of plant fibre. The front is pigmented with a geometric pattern of white lines on a black background.

This particular shape is characteristic of the rainforest region of north-east Queensland. 

A similar example is in the National Museum of Victoria, Melbourne, Australia, and another is reproduced in the book Boomerang, Behind an Australian Icon by Philip Jones, as well as in the British Museum.
