"Raymond Balze Joan Of Arc"
Sketch for one of the important paintings by Raymond Balze (1818-1909), Joan of Arc in Patay. One of Ingres' most loyal students with the Flandrin brothers, he participated in the order placed with Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres for the decoration of the Paris town hall, unfortunately destroyed during the burnings of the Commune. The painting, Joan of Arc in Patay, was exhibited by the painter at the salons of 1877, 1903 and 1906. The watercolor on pencil and feather lines has gaps in the lower part and on the right side. It is framed in a modern gold frame.
