"Victor Brugairolles (ganges Hérault 1869 - 1936) Washerwoman At The Water's Edge At The Setting Sun"
A magnificent sunset with multiple reflections on the water! Oil on wooden panel representing a washerwoman in the setting sun whose last rays are reflected in the water. Probably on the banks of the Seine where the artist worked a lot. Signed lower right “V. Brugairolles”. In a wood and stucco frame with a copper patina from the beginning of the 20th century with the original cartouche in the name of the artist. Impressionist touches as well as a rich palette of colors describing the end of a day at the water's edge, the artist's favorite subject. Dimensions: 22 cm x 27 cm Panel 27.5 cm x 32 cm with its frame Very good condition. Usual slight framing rubbing at the edge. A small gap between the panel and the edge of the frame, hardly visible. Victor Brugairolles is notably listed in Bénézit and in the work “Les petits Maîtres de la Peinture, Valeur de Tomorrow” by Gérald Schurr.
