In the background a river sinks into the landscape, a village being visible in the background. The painter perfectly masters the effects of atmospheric perspective. The painting is re-canvassed and framed in its gilded Empire frame with gold leaf decorated with palmettes and grapes of the heart. Without frame, it measures 121.5x176 cm.
