River landscape lively with walkers, bathers, in the background a flock and their shepherds. Very beautiful painting typical of the work of Jean Baptiste Lallemand Presented in a beautiful gilded frame After studying in Dijon and Paris, Jean-Baptiste Lallemand was accepted as a landscape painter at the Académie de Saint-Luc in 1745. Two years later, he left for Italy and spent fourteen years in Rome where he was clearly influenced by French artists working in the Italian style such as Joseph Vernet. This stay brought him notoriety and left a lasting mark on his work: the Italian landscape and the light of the Peninsula left an indelible mark on him. On his return to France in 1761, he exhibited his Italian landscapes at the Salons du Colisée (1776), de la Jeunesse (1783) and de la Correspondance (1786). Among his favorite themes, we find mainly seascapes, scenes village scenes, rural subjects and lively landscapes.
