inscribed lower right "M P Pajeta 1943".
Mario Paolo Pajetta (Genoa 1890 - Verona 1977), from a famous family of painters, moved to Verona where he was a pupil of Luigi Nono.
Very active in Verona's cultural circles, he was an interpreter of painting in vivid, expressive tones, with a post-impressionist formalism and spatiality.
Summer Afternoon in Piazza delle Erbe in Verona, dated "M. P. Pajeta 1943", is a large vertical view depicting the beating heart of Verona, the market, with quick, luminous brushstrokes.
