A magnificent chandelier known as the Salon des Nobles in finely chiseled Acanthus leaf, trilobate and interlace ormolu. Our chandelier is embellished in the center with a bronze vase painted in the blue of Sèvres porcelain. The upper part of the chandelier features bird heads holding a system of finely chiseled bronze chains in their beaks. It is lit by twelve twisted bronze light arms on two levels, finished with richly chased bronze bobèches. Beautiful cut-crystal decoration, such as platelets, half-pears, stars and daisies, finishing with a large cut-crystal ball.
Our chandelier is like a large Louis XVI period chandelier for the Salon des Nobles at the Château de Versailles.
A fine French work of superb quality, manufactured in the mid-19th century circa 1850-1870, the crystal works probably coming from Baccarat.
