Luminous oil on panel in warm, contrasting colors, view of Saint-Pierre in Rome, treated as a study. The panel is monogrammed at the bottom left and bears a dedication on the back: A....., F.Christol. Frederic Christol was a student of Gérome and Fandrin. He exhibited views of Italy, Switzerland and Palestine at the salon between 1874 and 1880.
