“Exceptional pair of 18th century frames”: stuccoed and gilded “mecca” carved wood, 48 x 39 cm overall, view 39.5 x 31 cm, rebate 42 x 33 cm. Wear to the gilding and missing pastillage on the interior frieze. They were used later around 1800 for a pair of engravings: “Garde à vous” by Porporati after Angélica Kauffmann and “Il n'est plus temps” by Audouin after P. Bouillon, unfortunately recut to be centered in the frames, with their title cut out and reassembled under the subject.
