François Grenier (1793-1867): “The family of the bad subject”, etching and aquatint engraved by Jazet, image 46 x 57 cm on sheet 52 x 63 cm. Tear, doubled in full, wetness and numerous scratches of silver fish, mounted under Marie-Louise revealing the title and the image. Despite its condition, this superb image circa 1820/30, showing a family seeking shelter as a storm approaches, is rare enough to merit restoration.
