Biface pottery collected in the Washkuk hills area in Papua New Guinea. Ethnicity Kwoma. Pot intervening in a fertility cult related to the harvest of yams. The shape of this pottery is reminiscent of the yam itself, a sacred tuber. Terracotta entirely carved and showing stylized faces enhanced with natural pigments or paintings.
