Minton was one of the pioneers of English porcelain production, alongside other great potters such as Spode, Davenport, Ridgway, Coalport and others. They were located in Staffordshire and were known in particular for their wonderfully fine white bone china and vivid colors. There is a color called "Minton blue", a cool azure that was very fashionable in Victorian times.
Minton excelled in its decorations and gilding, often executed by artists who came from the Sèvres factory in France to contribute their expertise.
