"Pair Of Large Renaissance Elements In Sculpted Stone "lion Heads" Late 16th / Early 17th."
Pair of large Renaissance architectural elements in sculpted stone depicting "lion's muffles" on a background of parchment decoration. Beautiful dimensions and a nervous and precise sculpture, these two beautiful stone elements probably come from an important architectural ensemble (façade, monumental fireplace or opening surround, etc.) and date from the end of the 16th century, or even from the very beginning of the 17th century. Clear limestone with very fine grains, reminiscent of that of the Loire region; in good general condition, wear and small losses in secondary parts consistent with the age of the sculptures. The two blocks were not recut in depth; they are in their original dimensions and can possibly be reinstalled in a restoration project... NB/ Significant weight: approximately 35 kgs all excluding packaging; collection possible on site in Uzès or sending by carrier at the buyer's choice and expense.
