Object description :

"Edmund Mahlknecht (1820-1903) Oil On Canvas Painting Representing Cows And Sheep Etc.."
Hello, I offer you this very beautiful old painting representing a scene said to be by the famous Austrian painter, Edmund Mahlknecht. This painting was made in oil on canvas, representing a farmer who comes to see his cows, sheep and sheep in a meadow next to a path. This painting is signed lower left. The canvas is in good condition, it could perhaps use a little cleaning to revive the colors a little more. The frame is in wood and stucco gilded with leaf and bronzine. You can contemplate this work with more photos on my website https://abnantiquites.com Edmund Mahlknecht.. In the rich picture of the Austrian art scene, Edmund Mahlknecht occupies a very special position. Born on November 12, 1820 in Vienna, his creative genius blossomed from an early age and gave birth to a complete body of work until his death on February 26, 1903. Each of his brushstrokes on the canvas tells its own story - stories that are carefully captured and told in our art prints. The germ of his artistic creation was discovered very early. Under the careful guidance of his drawing teacher Joseph Hasslwander, Mahlknecht's talents were recognized and encouraged. He received even more encouragement and technique during his first painting lessons from his older brother Karl, a renowned printmaker, photographer and painter. In 1836, Mahlknecht began his formal training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he received instruction from professors Joseph Mössmer and Franz Steinfeld the Younger. His studies led him in 1839 to landscape painting under the direction of Anton Hansch. Gazing at a Mahlknecht painting, whether in its original form or a high-quality art print, is like taking a walk in nature. You can feel the breeze passing through the trees, hear the sound of the water and the birds chirping in the distance. Although he primarily specialized in painting animals and landscapes, inspired by Friedrich Gauermann, Mahlknecht brought each motif to life with unique sensitivity and precision. His special contribution to art was recognized at numerous exhibitions, including the prestigious Sydney World's Fair in 1879, where he received an honorary diploma. As a fine art print, his works create a window into the world as Mahlknecht saw it, a world alive with the beauty of nature and the splendor of animals. During his long and distinguished career, Mahlknecht was not only an outstanding painter, but also a respected drawing teacher in the house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Thus, he not only created masterpieces that live on through our art prints, but he also passed on knowledge and techniques that formed the foundation for future generations of artists. He was and remains an essential figure in the history of Austrian art.
