"Cossack Wedding By Adolf Stoiloff - Baumgartner (russian-austrian 1850-1924)"
The genre scene with a Cossack wedding ride was executed by the famous horse and genre painter Adolf Constantin Baumgartner-Stoiloff. The artist was born in 1850 in Linz (Austria) and died in 1924 in Vienna. According to research on Russian literature, he studied in the 1880s at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. He was well known for his paintings of Russian and Ukrainian horses and hunting. In the 1890s-1900s his Russian scenes with Cossacks and hunters were frequently reproduced in various European magazines. He is known to have worked under different pseudonyms signing his paintings with "A.Baumgartner-Stoiloff", "Stoiloff", "Constantin Stoiloff" or "C.Stoiloff".
