"Pair Of Extremely Rare Alabaster Vases, Italy, 1st Half Of The 18th Century"
The vases have a baluster shape and are richly decorated with foliage and acanthus. The foot is multiple and decorated, the shoulder has a band of peripheral foliage with mounted and fire-gilded handles. The neck ends with a collar overflowing with foliage in the shape of a waterfall. Rome or Naples ca.1730. Given their age and extremely fragile material, the vases are very well preserved. There are some tension cracks puttyed subsequently and one foot was probably consolidated and partially puttyed after damage. HD photos will be available
