A little history :
The first railway line was put into service in 1827. It is 21 km long and is used to transport coal from the mines of Saint-Étienne to the Loire, all pulled by horses. We then had to wait until 1837 to witness the inauguration of the first passenger line. The railway revolution has begun. In a developing railway operated by several companies, the professional unions authorized by the law of 1884 appeared at the end of the 19th century in scattered order. Alongside the National Union of Railway Workers, which is in the majority, several company or trade unions coexist. On January 27 and 28, 1917, the General Association of State Personnel, the General Association of Railway Personnel of the PLM, the Professional Association of Train Agents, the Federation of Mechanics and Drivers and the National Union Railway Workers unite by creating the National Federation of Railway Workers of France, Colonies and Protectorate countries.
