Luc l'évangéliste ou saint Luc, du grec ancienΛουκᾶς / loukâs, « Luc », est un personnage dont on sait peu de choses mais qui a rédigé une partie du Nouveau Testament. La tradition chrétienne le considère comme l'auteur de l'évangile qui porte son nom, ainsi que des Actes des Apôtres. Cette hypothèse est admise par le consensus historien, qui situe la rédaction de ces deux textes vers les années 80-85.
Le christianisme le présente à partir du ii^e sièclecomme un Syrien d'Antioche, médecin de profession et disciple de Paul. Si cette thèse est aujourd'hui rejetée par la majorité des historiens, il n'en reste pas moins que Luc défend Paul contre ses détracteurs, afin de prouver qu'il mérite aussi bien que Pierre le titre d'apôtre, et se fait un ardent prédicateur de la justification (ou le salut) par la foi.
