"Maurice Legendre Animation At The Champs Elysées Paris Oil On Canvas In The Style Of Mério Ameglio"
Magnificent oil on canvas representing the Avenue des Champs Elysées in Paris, probably bustling on a spring or summer day. Very luminous, it depicts the carefree Paris of the post-war period, a group of young people walking down the Avenue, the gentle nonchalance of the customers seated on the café terraces, in the shade of a parasol with a colorful canvas; on the right the legendary cinema "Les Portiques" which became the "George V" in 1955. A beautiful colorful palette which wonderfully restores the brightness of the day, the skillful and mastered touch of the artist who was used to planting his easel in major places in the capital characterize this work. Indeed, the views of Paris constitute Maurice Legendre's favorite theme with this personal touch so close to that of an Améglio or a Jules Hervé. It is highlighted by its original gilded wood frame perfectly adapted to the dimensions of the work. It is signed lower left “M. Legendre”. A round stamp probably that of the canvas merchant was affixed to the back of the canvas. 1950s. Dimensions: 46 cm x 55 cm (10 F format) 65 cm x 73 cm with its frame Very good condition.
