Female Sculpture, a Young Woman leaningon a classical column and
peering expectantly, the work realised is in alabaster, a shiny and elegant material
used by artists to sculpt their works of art.
The age of antique sculpture is from the end of the 19th century.
The ancient female statue in alabaster bears the signature of G. Gambogi, an Italian Sculptor.
Giuseppe Gambogi (1862-1938), was born in Pisa, but works in Florence
where he has his studio-atelier with his children.
For his works he uses various materials in marble, alabaster and bronze.
Sculptor with a romantic and orientalist taste.
Many works created by the sculptor were made for the foreign market and
some of them are kept in the museum of Dantesco in Ravenna.
The sculpture is in excellent condition even if it has undergone minor restorations.
