Object description :

"Toilet Of Venus, Interesting Oil On Panel, French Romantic Period"
Splendid oil on panel depicting "Cabinet of Venus" of probable French origin. The painting shows all the typical characteristics of the painting of the early romantic period, where the classicist and mythological themes and iconographies of the neoclassical period were elaborated with a more conceptual stylistics typical of the styles of the romantic and orientalist period of the first decades of the century.

The painting should certainly be studied carefully, but we note how the valid painter was aware of and drew inspiration from the painting and stylistic innovations of painters such as Domenique Ingres, in the definition of the nuanced contours and in the scenic setting.

A peculiarity of this panel and probably a distinctive sign of the painter, unfortunately no longer clearly distinguishable, is the presence of a sphere highlighted in gold applied to the bottom left of the painting, which would certainly appear to be contemporary with the painting.

We remain available for further information or clarifications in this regard.

The measurements of the table are 48cm x 36cm, the measurements including the non-coeval carved and gilded frame are 64cm x 52cm

We attach a historical guarantee certificate to the sale.
