Amphora and RStK - Riessner, Stellmacher and Kessel - The ceramic manufactory Amphora was founded by Alfred Stellmacher in Turn Teplitz in 1876. It became famous for its high-quality products made of ivory-colored bone china and produced items in the orientalist styles, various historicists and, later, Art Nouveau. At the Paris World's Fair in 1889, it won a gold medal and exported its products to many countries. In 1892, the company Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel (RStK) was founded, in which Stellmacher joined forces with his two brothers-in-law. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the company's best-known designers were Eduard Stellmacher - Alfred's son - and Paul Dachsel.
Eduard Stellmacher (1868-1929) - son of the founder of Amhora, Alfred Stellmacher. He studied at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Dresden. In the early 20th century he was a leading designer of ceramic figurines and vessels. He is the author of numerous busts and fanciful vases in the Art Nouveau style, which often feature animals. In 1904 he left Amhora and founded his own ceramic factory, also in Turn Teplitz.
