Fascinating 19th century Italian painting depicting Saint Anthony the Abbot burying Saint Paul the hermit. Two lions miraculously help the saint by digging a grave in the foreground. Religious oil painting on canvas of fine workmanship and great character. Painting in good state of conservation, with some small drops in color. Beautiful non-coeval frame in gilded wood with fabric passepartout, with some signs of aging. Part of a pair, the second painting represents the vision of Saint Anthony (see photo and ask for the bulk price if still available). Sight size H 92.5 x W 72.5 cm.
