This is an astonishing two-part sculpture made from cast iron and depicting the myth of Prometheus chained.
here the tortured person is represented lying on the rock with his face crippled in pain and struggling while the eagle comes to devour his liver.
the details are interesting, particularly Prometheus' face expressing intense pain.
the eagle is oddly positioned on the wrong side and rather seems to be devouring the heart! an error by the artist.
a sculpture executed in two parts:
one part for the rock and the other for prometheus. the use of cast iron is also surprising.
the weight is therefore considerable.
the details are well executed and the patina is the original cast iron color.
no excise to report.
no catering.
a truly astonishing sculpture taking up one of the great themes of classical mythology.
This sculpture is reminiscent of certain works of the Italian Renaissance.
dimensions:
51 cm long by 20 cm wide and 34 cm high.
