Magnificent Japanese Katana-kake of very high quality, in Asian ebony, decorated with a sculpted dragon (20th century).

This Katana-kake (horizontal support for 2 swords) is a true work of art, decorated with a superb dragon, very finely sculpted.

On the back of this Katana-kake is engraved the maxim 武魂黒炭, Bu Tamashi, Kokutan, Unryu, which can be translated as “In the spirit of Bushido, dragon in the clouds, made of mahogany”.

This unique piece is made from very high quality solid Asian ebony, called “黒檀” Kokutan.

Unlike relatively cheap and uniformly colored African ebony, Asian ebony, which is also a hard and dense wood, is brown in color with light veins. It is one of the most expensive ornamental precious woods in the world. Unlike most woods, ebony is dense enough to sink in water. The durability and general recognition enjoyed by beautiful objects made from woods as rare as Asian ebony are unwavering and highly appreciated by aesthetes.

Condition: It is completely original, there are no major defects, but be aware that there are some minor scratches and dirt due to it being a used mount.
