Object description :

"Painting The Duel Ritter Von Pettenkofen."
Oil painting on wood panel representing two characters preparing for a sword fight, a duel, by August Ritter Von Pettenkofen. Very interesting painting due to its unusual subject and treated in a very lively way and its remarkable quality of production. August Ritter Von Pettenkofen was a recognized painter of the 19th century, a former student of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in 1872. A specialist in genre painting, he was a knight of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts and went to Paris in 1852 where he came into contact with the Barbizon school. Note the presence of a third character hidden in the background, observing the scene. Similar painting with some differences acquired by the Amsterdam Museum in 1926. Very beautiful painting eligible for a fine collection or a museum. Frame dimensions 30 5 by 36 cm.
