"Large Original 20th Century Drawing, Château De Chaumont-sur-loire, Loir-et-cher"
Original drawing: “Château de Chaumont”. Indian ink and black ink wash. 57.7 x 92 cm. Slight foxing. Five little worm holes. A small tear without missing in the upper left corner. Large drawing, probably a school drawing, presenting a charming view of the Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire (Loir-et-Cher), residence of the Amboise family, which was razed by Louis XI and rebuilt in the 15th century. Property of Catherine de Medici, she exchanged it to her rival Diane de Poitiers for the Château de Chenonceau. Chaumont passed into the hands of several prestigious families until being sold to the State in 1938. It is today owned by the Centre-Val-de-Loire region and constitutes, with its park and its stables, a center of very active arts and nature, notably with the International Garden Festival.
